Social media not so social...

We all have those moments where we look at our friends list and think, who the fuck are some of these people. Back in the seventies when social media was getting on your bike and meeting up at the school yard to plan out the day. We would ride bikes through the woods or go to the corner store for some candy cigarettes (because we thought we were cool) and spend the day just using our imagination. We would play with our bb guns without offending anyone. Can you imagine that? A time when people just didn't get offended by the most trivial bullshit. Social was going to your friends house and the back door was always open. Their mom was like your mom and treated you like one of the family.
Those days when we would just hang out with friends and well... be social. Look up the word social: living or disposed to live in companionship with others or in a community, rather than in isolation. So let's think about that. How "ISOLATED" we are as we sit behind our computers and log into "SOCIAL" media to.. well to be social. Or so we think we are being social. Mostly we post pictures of cats and flags, guns, no guns anything to offend the offenders who have offended us by posting those offencive posts. Bring yourself back to the time when a trip to the corner store with a quarter in your pocket got you some candy or a comic book. The time when you just hang out with friends all night long laying on the front lawn playing TV tag.
Now we are social in the most isolated way possible. Doors are locked up and kids can't roam the neighborhood with each other because of random shootings and sick fucks trying to kidnap kids off the street. Our generation has gone into a panic mode with our children because times are just gone to shit. And to top it all off the police are not even allowed to do their jobs to keep us safe. If they are confronted with a dangerous person they now have to think twice before they even do anything. Leaving the bad guys in control of the situations on the streets. If the police do their jobs they become the bad guys and people are offended.
We live in a ass backwards time where nothing makes sense anymore. Having to deal with something like cancer makes you look at life in a new way. You want to get back to basics in life. There is not enough real social interaction anymore. The simple things in life are really all I care about anymore. Getting healthy and getting back to basics. That is all my life will be about from here on out. Those days when a chat room was the front porch of your house where everyone hung out. Well there were those 900 numbers lol. Well kids as archie and edith used to say, those were the days.

  1. Couldnt have said it better Pat, I love life but I hate the way things are for my kids. Thats a big reason why I dont have Facebook, nothing against it or anyone that has it, I do get it. But there is such a lack of socializing and that among exercise is one of the healthiest things a person can do. I feel sorry for our kid's generation, they have no idea what they are missing and how much better we had it.
BTW, who is that in that picture? Or is that just a random pic? That pic says it all, classic man. Gosh I miss those days. THOSE WERE THE DAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYSSSSSS..............meathead LOL
